Michael Fuchs

Michael Fuchs has been chairman of the German Group of the Trilateral Commission since 2001 and was elected European deputy chairman of the Commission in 2010. He was elected as a member of the German Bundestag (CDU/CSU) in 2002 and re-elected in September 2005 and in September 2009. Since November 2009, Dr. Fuchs has been deputy chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag. He was previously managing director of Impex Electronic in Koblenz which he founded in 1980 and is currently a member of the Supervisory Board. Dr. Fuchs joined the German Federation of Young Entrepreneurs (BJU) in 1982. One year later he was elected as a member of the board, and in 1987-88 he was elected as its federal chairman. Since 1986 he has been chairman of the Employers Federation of Wholesale Traders in Rhineland-Westphalia. In 1987, Dr. Fuchs became a member of the Executive Committee of the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA).Since 1992, he has been a member of the Presiding Committee of the BDA. From 1992 till 2000, he was president of the National Federation of German Wholesale and Foreign Trade (BGA) in Bonn and Berlin as well as vice president of the Federation of European Wholesale and International Trade Associations (FEWITA) in Brussels. In the years 1999 to 2001, Dr. Fuchs was the first president of the newly founded Federation of German Trade Associations (BDH). Dr. Fuchs is a member of numerous company boards as well as of the board of the Ludwig-Erhard-Foundation. Dr. Fuchs received his Ph.D. in pharmaceutical studies in 1976.
