Beat Hess is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Holcim Ltd, elected to the Board of Directors of LafargeHolcim Ltd in 2010. From 1977 to 2003, he was Legal Counsel and subsequently General Counsel for the ABB Group. From 2004 until 2011, he was Legal Director and a Member of the Executive Committee of the Royal Dutch Shell Group, London and The Hague. His other mandates include those of a Member of the Board of Directors, a Member of the Chairman’s and Corporate Governance Committee, and Chairman of the Compensation Committee of Nestlé S.A., Vevey, Switzerland, as well as Vice-Chairman and Member of the Nomination and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors of Sonova Holding Ltd, Stäfa, Switzerland. Beat Hess holds a Doctorate in Law (Ph.D.) and a Master of Law (LL.M.) degree and was admitted to the bar in Switzerland.
