Dr. George Bogden

Dr. George E. Bogden is an Executive Director of Trade Relations at CBP. In this role, he will oversee engagement with trade partners and advance U.S. trade policy goals. The Office of Trade Relations (OTR) serves as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) point of contact for the international trade community. Situated within the Office of the Commissioner, OTR is responsible for industry engagement, dissemination of information, and solicitation of input from both the trade and partner government agencies (PGAs).
The Hungary Foundation selected Dr. Bogden as an inaugural Senior Fellow, in residence in Budapest, and he was the first Associate Director of the Center for the Future of Liberal Society at the Hudson Institute.
Dr. Bogden’s commentary has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, War on the Rocks, GMFUS’s Paper Series, The American Interest, 1945, The Wavell Room, The National Interest,Presidential Studies Quarterly, and has been cited by Washington Post, as well as several other publications. Routledge will feature his forthcoming chapter in its first Handbook on Strategic Culture this fall.
During the 2021 term, he became a Senior Law Clerk at the United States Court of International Trade. Before defending his dissertation, he undertook a Fulbright Fellowship in Kosovo. Dr. Bogden’s research has been recognized by the Brussels Forum Young Writers Award and the Trench Gascoigne Essay Prize. After earning his BA from Yale, he served as the university’s Joseph C. Fox Fellow in Istanbul. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, as well as a member of Bretton Woods Committee, Chatham House, and IISS.
