Elsbeth Tronstad is State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Norway. Elsbeth Tronstad is former Executive Vice President — responsible for Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility — of SN Power in Oslo. She was previously Executive Director of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) in Oslo from 2005 until August 2009. She was previously Executive Vice President of ABB in Oslo from 2001 until 2004, with a special responsibility for communications and public affairs in ABBs global Oil, Gas and Petrochemicals Division. She joined the Vetco Group in 2004 when ABB sold out its oil and gas division. In 2001-2002, she was Deputy Minister of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1989 she was nominated Political Adviser to Prime Minister Jan P. Syse at the office of the Prime Minister throughout 1991, She is educated in Political Science at the University of Oslo. Mrs. Tronstad has held various posts in the Conservative Party. From 1980 to 1983 she was elected Member of the Baerum Municipal Council. In 2000-2002, she was Member of the Central Executive Committee for the Conservative Party. In her professional life Ms Tronstad has been head of the Organization Department at the Norwegian Conservative Party. She was Head of Communications of Det norske Veritas Industry and Senior Vice President of the Communications of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD). She has been member of several government-appointed committees. In 1999-2000, she was Member of a cross-party committee appointed by the Office of the Prime Minister to examine working conditions for ministers, state secretaries and political advisers. Mrs. Tronstad is Member of various Boards including vice chairman of the board of NUPI (Norwegian Institute of Foreign Affairs).
