Jacob Soetoyo has been Executive Director of the Gesit Companies, a trading and investment holding company, since 1980. The Gesit Group of companies, through its PT Gesit Alumas and other subsidiaries operate in 4 sectors, manufacturing, property development, trading and mining. The manufacturing units are engaged in aluminium extrusion, steel drum packaging and offset printing. Property units involve in offices and hotel developments projects. While trading and mining units, trades mainly in non-ferrous metals such as primary aluminium ingots, zinc, lead and copper, as well as chemicals, alumina, calcine coke, pitch coke while mining activities are in the mining and exploration of bauxites. Mr. Soetoyo was educated in Montreal, Canada at Concordia University (B.A. in commerce, 1978) and McGill University (M.B.A., 1980, and diploma in management, 1981). Mr. Soetoyo is also Founder and Board of Trustee of Botanical Gardens of Indonesia Foundation, and also Founder and Board of Trustees of El-Shaddai International School Jakarta, Indonesia.
